What’s New?

“Necessity is the mother of invention.” (16th Century English proverb)

This certainly rings true for the 2018 Shipyard Old Port Half Marathon.

New Course for Half Marathon

Due to multiple construction projects in the Ocean Gateway area, where we have started and finished the race for the past five years, we have moved our start finish to the HEART of the Old Port!  We are now starting and finishing on Fore Street, between Exchange Street and Union Street.  Our post-race celebration will take place in the Old Port.  We will share more details on this as the planning continues.

The course will still travel along Commercial Street, through the West End, along the Eastern Prom and the trails of Back Cove and the East End.

New Month

We have moved the race from the traditional weekend in July, to Saturday, June 23rd

Course Time Limit

We will have a strict 3 hour and 15 minute time limit.  There will be a cutoff at Mile 4.  All runners will need to reach this point within one hour of starting (8:00 AM).  After that point, runners will be offered a ride back to the start/finish area.

No 5K for 2018

Unfortunately, we will not have a 5K race this year and the Half Marathon will be capped at 3,500 runners.
